Since the late 1940's, Classic Elite Yarns has been a recognized and respected leader in the hand-knitting industry, providing knitters with quality yarns composed of the finest fibers available.

The company began as Warley Worsted Mills, a textile manufacturing mill in Lowell, Massachusetts, and became known for producing fine mohair yarns for both fabric manufacturers and yarn companies, such as Bernat.

In 1980, Classic Elite Yarns was developed to cater to hand weavers and designers, expanding their line to include specialty yarns in cotton, silk, alpaca, wool, and natural fiber blends. The company then began creating two annual collections of knitwear designs to showcase at national needlework shows and in the pages of international fashion magazines.

Today, the company is still housed in an historic mill on the banks of the Merrimack River and prides itself on distributing fine yarn from international mills, including the finest cashmere, to America's best yarn shops. Their in-house staff manages all pattern writing, technical editing, desktop publishing and much of the design for its collection.
